Lost Auction Experience Day 1

Location of the Lost Auction and Exhibit - at least the Barker Hangar part

As I came around the back of the building to the entrance, I found this awesome sign!
I have finally somewhat recovered from my whirlwind trip to Los Angeles for the Lost Auction and Exhibit on August 21-22, 2010. It was an amazing experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything! I left Louisiana shortly after I got off work on Friday afternoon (the 20th) and landed in Houston with barely a moment to spare to make my flight to Los Angeles. In fact, after the run/escalator/train/shuttle/run some more from Terminal A to Terminal C, I was the last person to board the flight and of course, my seat was way in the back of the plane and in the middle of the row. Picture Hurley boarding flight 815 and you get a good idea of how things were going for me - sweating and bumping into everyone with my luggage! But I felt the Lost connection - LOL!  The flight to LA was fine and I was able to get my rental and get to my hotel in Santa Monica without any problems by about 11:30 pm PST.

I enjoyed this nice little motel near the beach in Santa Monica

The next morning, I wanted to get a look at the Pacific ocean because I had never been that far West so I woke up really early to have time to do that and give myself time to find the Auction and get in line early.  Glad I did that because I even enjoyed standing in line listening to the people around me talking Lost and I met Alice and Alex after @Lottery_Ticket told them I was in line. Thanks, Lotto for the introductions!

Pacific Ocean at Santa Monica

My kind of tattoo!

The people standing in front of me in line were from Barcelona!  While in line, @BonnieJGreen and her husband arrived and I was able to meet them for the first time in person. She is such a great person and took me under her wing and introduced me to so many other Losties and made me feel right at home. I can't thank her enough for that :-) !  When I entered the gate, the staff stamped my hand and I was able to get two Lost buttons.

Lost buttons given at entrance to the Lost Auction and Exhibit on Day 1

The Hangar was all decked out to look like a tropical paradise.

I like this pic because you can see the LOST on the big screen at the far end of the Hangar

The Photo Ops

For the Exhibit, they had set up a variety of photo ops around the outer edge of the room. When I first came in, I went to my right and found Mr. Clucks but poor thing was in need of some work because someone had gotten too excited and disturbed how they had him secured to the platform.  I guess they thought they might snatch him up and run past all the guys is black suits and black sunglasses who were guarding the door! LOL! So I moved on to the next photo op, which was one of the cast pics blown up with astroturf and "rocks" in the forground where people could go and get in the picture with the cast.  And I just discovered when I went to find my picture to post that the picture must not have taken when the girl had my camera (I thought I check them all afterwards but I guess I missed this one!) because I can't find the one where I posed for this shot anywhere :-(   At least I have a shot of the set that I took during one of the breaks during the auction (very late at night so no one was there anymore except about 15 of us at the auction - LOL).
2nd photo op - people would pose with the cast photo & have their pic taken (I can't find mine!)

Next came Sawyer's beach camp without the real Sawyer :-(  There was a piece of Oceanic 815 with Sawyer's plane seat in front of it and a mannequin as Sawyer.  You couldn't get up close and personal with this set but it was great to look at and take pics of......

The next photo op on that side of the building was a section of Oceanic Flight 815 seats included. People could sit in the seats and the man would take your picture.  He wanted to get pics of people like they were crashing so it was fun to watch all the people doing their different crash poses.

As you can see, I would not make it as an actress - LOL!

After the plane crash, I went to the Swan Station and was able to join the Dharma Initiative by putting on a lab coat and pressing the execute button on the computer........

The area just past the Swan Station was were the actors from the show came and went so it was a good place to get autographs.  It was also where they gathered everyone that was entered in the costume contests.  They had a contest on Day 1 and Day 2.  I liked Day 2 the best :-)

Favorite Lost Episodes......

Rewatched All the Best Cowboys have Daddy Issues tonight with the crew at http://www.lostblog.com/ and was blown away by how amazing that episode was.  It is so easy to forget things with so many wonderful episodes but this one was packed full of mirror moments (http://lostmirrormoments.wordpress.com/) and reveals about characters that were so important to the whole series.  Boone having the red shirt conversation with Locke was priceless.  Christian and Jack in Christian's office standing together with Christian's hand on Jack's shoulder was very reminiscent of the scene at the church in The End. There were so many more and I would love to relive the all again but I'm afraid the bed is calling because I have to get up early to go to work - boo hoo! Would be fun to be independently wealthy like Hurley - even though he owed Walt $20,000 from the backgammon game. That was so funny when Hurley said he had to go to a meeting to get out of playing another game with Walt. And Sawyer and Sayid's conversation with Sawyer showing a softer side by saying he kept the fire burning for Sayid even after Sayid tortured him. I could go on and on...........

Lost Links

My new project is to gather Lost links as I travel around the web.  I originally decided to do this as a "Favorites" list for myself but I think it will be nice to have a Lost Links list available.  I am sure with so many webpages out there dedicated to Lost that there are some wonderful compilations of Lost Links but I wanted to add my own contribution to the cause :-)  Maybe someday someone will find it useful besides me.

The Others (Lost Band) - too cool

Just heard these guys and had to share:
The Others

Lost Auction - I wish I was a millionaire :-)

Just looking at the Lost items that are going to be up for auction at www.profilesinhistory.com/lost-the-auction.html makes my heart ache because I want to buy so much.  I am a collector by nature and when you add in some obsession (LOL) to the matter, it makes it even worse.  I will just keep saying to myself - you don't need that to survive, you don't need that to survive and I will ignore the voice that says but this is authentic LOST memorabilia being auctioned from ABC - this will never happen again!  Oh, it is killing me :-)

LOST 6x17/18 - SERIES FINALE PROMO TRAILER

A winning week

Last week I won a Lostie's Tshirt from http://www.gritfx.com/
Last night I won a Lost Wristband from http://lostwristbands.wordpress.com/
and when I came back to town after being in Atlanta for a week, I had received in the mail my autographed picture of Jorge Garcia. I had sent in a letter requesting the autograph with a legal sized envelope self addressed and stamped. It is a great pic and he wrote in blue sharpie To Susan Aloha Jorge Garcia. Great start for the Lost season. This week coming up I am going to the Time talks Lost in Lake Charles, LA. I am looking forward to that because I have not had a chance to go to any Lost related events. Even though this is still on the big screen and not in person I am looking forward to it :-)

We wrapped the Pilot on my birthday. Bender called at 6 AM to say the finale is completed exactly six years later. The circle closes.

Lost Contests

I have been loving entering all these Lost contests that are going on as the final month is in full swing. Hopefully, I will win something :-)
Hated to hear that they had wrapped filming. Wish I could have made a trip to Hawaii to see everything and wish I could go to LA for the party on the 13th but such is life.......

The GritFX LOST Pack giveaway is Supported by LOSTblog

Hope to win a Lost contest sometime before the show ends but if not hopefully the love of Lost will continue on for years to come and I can continue to try and collect some memorabilia.

Loved the new promo

I think that was the best promo ever! My mind was already blown (haha) from the show but the promo really tripped me out :-) Whoever put that together and decided to use the Gene Wilder song from Willy Wonka was inspired! That is why you have to love Lost........................

I don't want it to end......the contest or the show :-)

I have been having so much fun making promos for the Lost promo contest that I hate to see it end today at midnight! I haven't made all the ones I want to make and I only have two hours left. I'm not doing it to win. I am just having fun putting the clips together with the music etc. to make tributes to the show. I wish they would leave it up so we could just keep playing with it and not for the contest :-) The bad thing is I really need to be doing some work right now and I have been playing Lost instead. Oh, well the clock is ticking......beep, beep, beep!

I can't believe the season is passing so fast :-(

I have been working really hard but knowing that I have Tuesday nights and Lost to look forward to helps me to get through it all. I hate that this final season is passing so fast and I am going to miss the show so much when it is over. I really do want to find out what is going on but sometimes I just want the mystery (and the show) to go on forever! I have been having fun playing with the fan promo contest at abc.com - I have made 4 promos so far and will probably make a few more before the final date comes along. I'm not doing them thinking that I am going to win. I am just enjoying reliving the moments and playing around with the computer to put them together into a commercial. It is fun. If you haven't tried and it is still going on, you should give it a try. Here are the links to the ones I have done so far:

Can't wait to see future episodes but sad to see them go...........

I've been reading about what the actors and producers have to say about the upcoming episodes and they sound so exciting and promising.  I am really excited to see what answers we get.  I enjoyed watching this interview about the mysteries of Richard http://www.tvguide.com/News/Getting-Lost-Richards-1015701.aspx Who am I kidding?  I enjoy anything related to Lost - LOL!  Well, it is too late as usual and I have to get up and go to work bright and early in the morning so I am off to bed!

ABC.com Lost Fan Promo contest

I have been having a good time playing with ABC.com Lost promo contest.  They have so many different pics, sounds, etc. to pick from that you could make a million different versions.  I know I won't win but it is fun just to be able to show my appreciation for the show by making a tribute of the things I like. Of course, they don't have everything from the last 5 seasons up there so some things that I liked aren't up there but there is enough to make it fun.  If you haven't tried it, it isn't that hard and they have some how to videos to show you what to do.  If you aren't going to give it a go, then please feel free to check out my videos so far - I have two - but I have a feeling there will be more before the contest ends :-)

Mirror Images

Had a random thought today about Jack's appendectomy scar being on the wrong side - could they be in a mirror universe?  Things appear opposite in a mirror and mirrors have appeared often throughout the series.  Just a thought......................

Thankful for Losties who make such wonderful blogs and share them with us!

I have had an enjoyable evening reading some blogs from Losties covering Lost's 606 episode Sundown. There are so many wonderful bloggers out there and I appreciate all their time and effort and intelligence.

I am also excited because my copy of The Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition by Lewis Carroll with introduction and notes by Martin Gardner and original illustrations by John Tenniel came in the mail today.
I don't know how I made it to 42 years of age without reading Alice in Wonderland but with so many references in Lost, I feel like I am missing out.  I am looking forward to reading this book because it has notes that dig into what Lewis Carroll was meaning. And of course it is the book that Jack had while he was in David's bedroom in Episode 605 The Lighthouse...........

Lost Sundown 606 was amazing!

I am going to have to rewatch all these Losts again and again and again and I still probably won't absorb all the information they have in them. It amazes me the creativity of these people to make such a wonderful show and I am so grateful to them that they did. I have never LOVED a TV show so much! I have LOVED a movie like this before - LOL - I was crazy about Titanic (still my favorite movie ever). I am curious how I will feel once the finale plays. I think I will go through the grief process :-) I know when I finish a really good book that I feel like I have to come back to reality and it is a bizarre experience. I hope that I am not disappointed with how they tie up this show. Everyone has such high expectations but it is hard not to. I am going to be a nervous wreck on May 23rd! The actors have been doing such a great job! I hope they get some Emmy nods out of it. They deserve them. And of course the show itself deserves anything it would qualify for :-)

I have Lost my memory! And I would like it back, please!

While I was at work today then running my errands after work, I was thinking about different things I wanted to put on here. They were good ideas - I promise! BUT (and there is always a BUT) now that I have come home and eaten and become a vegetable, I can't remember what I wanted to say. That will teach me to take notes when the ideas pop into my head. I should know better because I have to do it for everything else so I should have to do it for this too. I am the list queen! Well, I can say that I am happily anticipating a new Lost episode tomorrow. I wonder if we will get to see any new island structures. I really enjoy seeing the buildings like the lighthouse then I get kind of bummed later when I hear how they were filmed and don't really exist somewhere. I find the mythology of the island very interesting and hope that we get that explained before the show ends (sniff, sniff). I was glad to find the Geronimo Jack's Beard podcast and blog. If you haven't checked it out, you should.

Getting Started

I have been wanting to see what blogging is about for a long time but haven't taken the steps to do it until now. As usual, with me at least, it is something in the entertainment industry that leads me to learn more related to the world of computers. I enjoy learning more about computers and what is available out there but it is so easy to get stuck in a rut in life so I need something to stimulate my interest enough to get me moving. This time it is the television show Lost. I absolutely LOVE LOST! I drive people crazy talking about it and have been gathering new recruits myself! I'm not sure where this blog is going to go because I am just jumping in without a plan (which is very uncomfortable to me) but it is worth a try.
